On the eve of our 9th Birthday .. 9 years wow .. Vanessa has spoken to the Metro Newspaper, not sure if this has been taken out of context with the wider picture, but they are reporting.
The 27-year-old insisted she was ‘mentally’ finished as she posed with grey hair to tease new solo music.
‘I don’t think I could go back. I’ve got so much that I want to do. There’s no space mentally for me to go back,’ said Vanessa, posing for Rankin’s Hunger TV to plug her second solo EP, Chapter Two.
‘As time goes on, I know it just wouldn’t feel right for me. This feels natural,’ she added.
The remaining four pop babes have previously insisted they are still together, despite a four-year gap for some of them to have babies.
Vanessa‘s second EP – Chapter Two – is available to buy/stream from today.
How glamorous! Today is our 8th Birthday, 8 years ago these girls where looking lovely in neon ( Mollie typically in Pink!)
Who would have thought in 2008 that we would still actually be here in 2016? Not sure I did, not sure many here would be thinking the same too! But yet, here we are, 8 years later, 8 years older, and still playing Work at full blast. Things haven’t change too much have they? I mean we have several children in the band now, but apart from that its still the same, right?
Probably not, but we can dream. But here we are, (still) standing right here .. but lets not get too emotional just yet. A few words …
Usual thing every year, thanks to everyone who made this site possible, those at the start whom decided we should do this, to those who helped though the busier times, though to little old me who still clings on with hope in 2016!
Huge thanks to YOU, the visitors, whom still keep visiting in the hope I’ll be able to say NEW SINGLE COMING SOON, but alas it’s not happened (yet), so please keep visiting and hopefully one day.
Finally to the girls themselves, the girls management and label, whom if they didn’t initially complain we where too far ahead of the label 8 years ago, we might not be as known as we are today. I cannot express how grateful I am to the girls theirselves and their management who have been so helpful over the years!
Here’s to the next 12 months, even if it will only contain more EPs from Vanessa and Mollie giving us some 90s pop throwback, whilst Rochelle fights Marvin for the hosting job of The Voice as it moves from the BBC to ITV. (I joke, honestly!)
Either way, keep up to date via Twitter on @TheSatsCoUk or if that doesn’t float your boat hit us up on Facebook or just keep coming back here! We’re not going anywhere until I say so!
All the best, and remember keep living for the weekend by not giving up!
No, I’m not singing the Adele song, I don’t have the voice to pull that off! Just thought it’s time for a friendly post to say, hello!!
So what is going on? Well we are approaching our 8th birthday in a little over a month, more on that in April. Eight years … and sadly its never been more quiet really.
Musically … Vanessa is recording a second EP, Una is in the recording studio laying down the music to her upcoming album.
Mollie’s first single could be called ‘Reckless Heart’, as being reported on pop justice. Written by Mollie and Steve Anderson (who is known for his work with Kylie, also worked on ‘Breathe On Me’ by Britney Spears), hopefully we will hear more on this in the coming weeks!
Frankie is seemingly happy with two children for now in a recent magazine interview and Rochelle has seemingly lend some vocals to her husbands Luv Bug venture but we presume she is still working on various TV roles.
Hopefully we’d have more music from the three going solo sooner rather than later, be a nice birthday present if so!
Keep playing The Saturdays, we’re not giving up yet!
The article is interesting, discussing the issues with her pregnancy and no she’s not had a boob job for those wondering.
There are also key questions asked about the group, and sadly for those of us expecting a reunion anytime soon should start packing our bags and move onto either Una/Mollie/Vanessa’s solo careers’ as Frankie says she has no plans for music for a while.
Frankie plans to spend this year figuring out what she wants to do next. She recently made a film on internet trolling for Victoria Derbyshire on BBC2, which has given her a taste for “doing something that has a real meaning.”
What’s definitely not on the cards any time soon is a Saturdays reunion. While all the girls remain great friends, each is happy doing her own thing, and Frankie says there are no plans to get back together.
“We haven’t split up, but we are having a break,” she says. “I will always miss performing, but I’ve been doing it since I was 12. It’s quite nice to get invited to something and be able to say: ‘Yeah, I’ll come!’ I’m so used to never knowing until the last minute because when you’re in a band, your schedule is not your own.
“So it’s really nice to have this freedom, but I do sometimes feel a bit lost. Like: ‘Oh, I’ve got nothing to do today. Let’s go to the farm again!’
“As a band, we’ve always been really understanding of each other, and I just think whatever happens will happen naturally.”
What’s quite telling, though, is the fact that Frankie clearly sees her future away from music. She speaks at length about how a career in the industry simply isn’t compatible with family life, which surely means it’s curtains for The Saturdays.
“You have to dedicate so much time to music, and that’s just not my priority now I’ve got children. I want to work – it’s part of who I am – but I also want to be able to pick my kids up from school and watch them on sports day. I always wanted to be successful, but I never wanted to be a successful person without a family.
“If you’d have asked me five or six years ago, I’d be like: ‘Yes, I want to try a solo career.’ But now I’ve been at it for so long and I feel like I’ve achieved what I want to.”
Seasons Greetings from The Saturdays Fansite! We hope everyone has a wonderful time over the next week or so and spends lots of quality time with family!
Year Review:
Officially the last performance from The Saturdays (at time of posting) was 54 odd weeks ago, at Liverpool’s Radio City Christmas Live 2014. 2015 promised little on paper, and little did it deliver. Even before the girls last performance there was a lot of noise of solo careers and the like, all of which have barely materialised this year. Yes we’ve had confirmation that Mollie has signed to a major label, Vanessa has released a couple of tracks and Una keeps recording but we all expect all three to do a major push in 2016. Frankie obviously has the Strictly Tour which starts next month which she missed last year, and Rochelle no doubt has more TV lined up even if the future of the X-Factor is in doubt, maybe she’ll replace her own husband on The Voice when that moves to ITV in 2017 … might be awkward!
What does 2016 bring? Well those expecting a group reunion might well be crying into their Christmas dinners in 365 days time. I just cannot see it. Even if Mollie, Vanessa and Una all push their music in 1Q 2016, as Mollie is with a major label, if her album does get released it might still be 6+ months away in the late Spring/Summer of 2016. Una will be silly not to use The Voice of Ireland to help promote her album in Ireland which starts its run in early January for a few months.
There is obviously a very small core fanbase that actually still care about The Saturdays and their music – which in some ways I do understand. You can argue a couple of poor album releases in regards to promotion and the like have hurt the girls commercially and they are slowly being forgotten about with the likes of Little Mix taking and running far away with the girl band crown.
Is a ‘reunion’ on the cards, never say never, but it might be 2017. With rumours of a Spice Girls reunion planned for 2016 they might not want to go up against that and just be lost in that.
Where does that leave me, and this website? I still have no plans to go anywhere, just yet. It’s not like it’s taking up hours of my time anymore, and if the girls did return the times of me spending hours upon hours of recording off the TV are probably gone too, as I sit here and run everything off my laptop these days. We’re not going anywhere and the twitter is still the best place to catch up on breaking news so please follow @TheSatsCoUK for the latest. I mean the girls official site hasn’t been updated for nearly 10 months!
I need to plan what to update, and when. We might just fall back to updates every 7 days or so to say what has happened and post breaking news (if there is any!) as soon as possible. But I will go into that in the new year. I don’t plan to stop, just scale back until one of the girls goes solo properly and actually confirms what The Saturdays are doing.
As it’s all still rather quiet … Mollie continues to record, Vanessa churns out different variants of her songs, Una continues to record, whilst Rochelle and Frankie continue with their TV exploits I thought I’d throw us all back to times when we had a group to argue over. 4 years ago today, The Saturdays hit the Liverpool Echo Arena for their All Fired Up Tour, I was in attendance and recorded this video.
So please enjoy this video, and a few others on my channel if you are bored. Or indeed if you are still visiting the site, the demand for the group, and their solo careers has sadly really tapered off over the last few months and I’m not sure how many people truly still care. I get a feeling a lot have wander off to Little Mix these days who continue to add tour date after tour date to their upcoming tour!
