Hey all! We are now at Tuesday which means that we might get an unofficial chart update later this morning to how well Gentleman is performing. We snuck into the iTunes Top 10 last night, but have fallen out of it (just) this morning, we seem to be locked into a battle with those The Wanted boys over who wants number 10 on iTunes!
The girls hit MTV and Chart Show TV yesterday for a bit more promo – still wish the girls would do a major UK channel for promo to get the higher viewers – but this is better than nothing (surely?) and they are doing one of these Google Hangouts again today at 4pm for whom it interests.
I know a few people are all going ‘It’s another My Heart Takes Over’ well it surely won’t be THAT bad, I mean Gentleman is still Top 11 on iTunes and only just behind The Wanted, so adding in physical sales should see them go above them. It’s just a case of them (hopefully) maintaining this level of sales throughout the week.
I know its all a little underwhelming after the highs of What About Us, the 115,000 odd sales and a number one, but we need to take the rough with the smooth!
This afternoon the girls kicked off the promotional trail for Gentleman by having a chat on BBC Radio 2, no thats not a typo, they actually went on Radio 2 for a change. You can catch the interview below, as always let us know what you think by sending us a tweet!
Gentleman is released in Ireland tomorrow and the rest of the UK on Sunday. You can still pre-order now to grab the awesome b-side Wildfire, hit the links to the right of this post 🙂
Hey all! Hope you are all doing great and well, and that you have summer! (If you are in the Northern part of the world anyway!) Just don’t ask us in the UK about summer …
It’s all gone a little quiet again, as the girls, rest(?), and get ready for the big Gentleman promo push, hopefully the TV information will start filtering in shortly and we will update you on that accordingly.
As you are probably aware, Rochelle has returned to the group now, so hopefully she will do some TV promo/performances with the rest of the girls as they release Gentleman in under two weeks now! To kick off promo Mollie is on BBC Radio 1 this weekend, doing another Surgery session, almost excatly a year later than her last, she must book these things in advance, so make sure you tune in to that!
Rochelle and Marvin (and THAT buggy) have also been out and about, not sure why the paps decide to take photographs of a family walking around is beyond me, but I’ve added a couple of the pictures below, the couple also enjoyed a night out! I know its hardly breaking/exciting news, but everything will kick up a few gears soon … 🙂
Well its not like we actually went anywhere, but I know its been an age since the last post. Those of you who follow us on twitter @TheSatsCoUk will know I’ve spent most of last week trawling up and down the UK finishing off Mollie’s birthday book, its huge! Thanks to everyone who has submitted something for the book this year, I’m sure Mollie will have a great time reading it over her favourite drink! The book is being posted to the girls management today, so hopefully they will pass it over to her soon 🙂
Not much news has happened in the last week, the girls have been added to the Main Stage for this years V Festival, the girls will be at Weston Park on the 17th August, and then Hylands Park on the 18th August. V Festival gets high profile TV coverage for those who are unlucky not to have a ticket, we shall be putting media on the site – hopefully as it happens 🙂 More on that in August.
Expect a few site updates in the coming weeks, mainly under-the-hood changes. A gallery update soon too, plus a few other tweaks here and there. I’ll keep you all updated on the site twitter @TheSatsCoUk
Firstly a huge thanks to everyone who was involved in the meet up at Doncaster this weekend, lots of talk, laughs (drinks) and topped off with a great gig too! We all had a blast that’s for certain. If you where in attendance I’m sure you enjoyed it too as the girls put on another great show! (Lawson weren’t bad either 😉 )
For those asking the girls didn’t perform Gentleman, the first performance of that is expected to be this coming Saturday at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Also should add, just in case she reads this, thanks to Vanessa for following us on Twitter last week. We are now followed by both Mollie and Vanessa, so make sure you follow us too on @TheSatsCoUk 🙂
Una took to her blog on Hello to talk about the show being ‘axed’ and confirms that the show only had a 10 episode run anyway, so make of this what you will. I guess ultimately you can spin it both ways ‘being axed’, ‘not renewed’ etc. The media will always be the media!
If you have forgotten (and I hope not!) the Gentleman music video premieres this week, so something to look forward to as the week progresses, they will no doubt ‘tease’ us more as the week progresses.
What About Us has sold over 87,000 copies between Sunday and Thursday and looks set to break the 100,000 mark this week, which is awesome, so if you’ve not bought it, or not got those remixes yet, please please buy them before 11.59pm on Saturday night to count for this weeks chart 😀
Yesterday Mollie and Vanessa when to KISS FM to answer your questions, keep watching and you might hear a name that you might recognise 😉
This morning our girls are on Daybreak and Lorraine to promote the new single ‘What About Us’. The majority of the videos will be on the site at around lunchtime. But a few clips of the girls have been on early so I’ve managed to sneak them on before work, just for you 🙂 REMEMBER to please buy ‘What About Us’ on iTunes or Amazon, links are on the right of the site. If you pre-ordered the EP, why not pick up the remixes EP? Or pop over to Amazon and buy the song again for just 89p!
As always the videos are in HD, and as normal if you want to use these videos on your site/blog/tumblr etc. Then please use the many variety of embed codes and everything on Vimeo. Plus please link back to us at www.the-saturdays.co.uk 🙂
Yesterday our girls officially introduced theirselves to the US media with a press-conference for their new show ‘Chasing The Saturdays’ which premieres on E! in just 12 days!
Here’s a blogs take on the events and the press release for the forthcoming show:
The all-girl, five-member band is regular tabloid fodder overseas for their chart-topping hits, high-profile romances, and fashion and business smarts. E! cameras follow their infectious personalities and crazy schedules as they navigate Hollywood and the American music industry in the new reality series Chasing The Saturdays, airing Sundays beginning Jan. 20 on E!.
Their story began last summer, when The Saturdays — Mollie King (25), Frankie Sandford (23), Vanessa White (23), Una Healy (31) and Rochelle Humes (23) — headed to Los Angeles to work with Mercury Records and famed producer Rodney Jerkins (of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Spice Girls fame) on their debut U.S. album and promoting their new single “What About Us.”
Just a week after her highly publicized wedding to fellow musician and JLS member Marvin Humes, Rochelle Humes packed her bags and joined her BFFs on their three-month stay in Los Angeles. “We were excited to have someone document our trip because we only get the chance to try and crack America once,” Humes says.
The girls lived in an apartment block, where each girl had their own suite that connected to a communal area. “On the show you get to see all of that and our personal lives as well,” Humes shares. “There’s never an average day. We could be doing a photo shoot one day and the next day we’ve got the studio and then the next day we’ve got a show and then the next day we’re testing perfume because we are about to release a fragrance.”
Being famous, although not known in America, turned out to be somewhat of an awkward experience for the group.
“There are a lot of English paps [paparazzi] in America — they would know who we are, and they tend to photograph us because they know the pictures will sell back home. It’s a little awkward when someone will walk past and be like, ‘Who are these girls?’ It’s just really embarrassing. And they are like, ‘Who are you? Why are they taking pictures of you?’ And you would have to explain every time. Sometimes I would just pretend — ‘I’m not sure why. I’m from London; I don’t know either.’”
The Saturdays are hoping they took care of that issue when their series and their new single debut this month in America.
Also I forgot to mention yesterday the girls are set to perform at the Golden Globes After Party next weekend, they will be performing a 30min set for the party goers! I’ve added some pictures below of the girls out and about in LA yesterday.
