The Saturdays are back with a stomping new single, buff boyfriends (David Gandy, we mean you) and their best bodies ever. So what’s their secret? Fabulous finds out
Never let it be said that The Saturdays aren’t up for a challenge. Two hours into our shoot, Mollie’s hoisting herself up a climbing frame in eight-inch heels, Frankie’s got rope burns on her arms, and Rochelle’s fallen flat on her face in the body oil we’ve been a little too liberal with.
“I’ll sue! No win, no fee, I’ve seen the ads!” she jokes. (We hope!)
As the UK’s biggest girl band, The Saturdays regularly top sexiest women lists and are known for stage costumes so revealing, they’d make a Strictly dancer blush. But they have the same insecurities as the rest of us, even airbrushing their holiday snaps!
And there are no macrobiotic vegans here – they love fry-ups and Magnums. In fact, the first thing they ask is: “What’s for lunch?”
Our kind of girls!

The Saturdays Una Healy is getting men everywhere excited about their new single and video.
Notorious is out next week and the Irish star was more than happy to promote the single at the Pirates of the Caribbean premiere in London last night (Thursday 12.05)
“I’m so excited for it to come out, we’ve been over in L.A. shooting the video and it was recorded quite a while ago but its not going to come out until next week. We know people have heard snippets and we just can’t wait for people to hear the whole record, see the video and get out there and perform it.
“I’m not allowed to talk about the video too much but the pictures of us dressed as secretaries is a clue.” added Una.
Una also revealed that she jumped at the chance of attending the Pirates premiere “I’m really here to see Jonny Depp. He’s (boyfriend Ben Foden) fine with that, I’ve never got a chance in hell with Jonny Depp anyway so it’s alright”
But Una ruled out any role for her on The X-Factor in 2011, “Definitely not, no, I don’t have enough experience to judge people yet.”
(Note how the PHYSICAL CD isn’t due out until 27th June where as the DOWNLOAD is due out on May 22nd … seems they are hoping for a long chart run with this song …..)

PopJustice have posted their own verdict on Notorious, including a little more of the song, which you can read (in full) and listen to the clip from their site
Is ‘Notorious’ amazing? Yes.
How amazing is it? Quite amazing. It’s a bit Black Eyed Peas-esque, feels a tiny bit like Kelis and Rihanna, and has a strong, propulsive energy that builds throughout the tune.
What’s the structure like? The fact that the beat keeps dropping in and out makes it difficult to get your head around what’s the chorus and what isn’t but the track’s not as all over the place as it first seems. Here’s what happens:
» Vocal intro – “I’m a outlaw, I’m the big boss, I’m a gangster on the dancefloor” twice with blippy ping pong noises.
» Instrumental intro – beat kicks in, which evolve into…
» Verse 1 – assorted banging on about “you know I like it in the streetlights”, “I l-l-love this track” etc. Quite bold and bolshy-sounding.
» Breakdown/pre-chorus/epic bit/actually-it-might-be-the-chorus – track drops out, there’s a big “oahaahahaaaaah” bit (this is the clip above), followed by a fiesty “closer, baby look in my eyes do you recognise MAY?”, followed by “I’ve been a bad girl, I’m a bad girl, I’m notorious”. Into…
» Post-chorus/actually-this-might-be-the-chorus – the track starts to build up again amid various epic sounding noises in the background, more “oahaahahaaaaah” action and a full-on chant of “I’m a outlaw, I’m the big boss, I’m a gangster on the dancefloor”.
» Verse 2 – track slams back in, bits of singing about “everybody knows my name here, I’m the head of game here, pleasure and pain yeah, cos my resume says that I’m a bad girl”. NB: No members of The Saturdays actually
» Breakdown/pre-chorus/epic bit – this time the beat hasn’t dropped out and it’s all quite danceable.
» Post-chorus – beat does drop out this time, and post-chorus gives way to…
» Middle eight bit – “so baby tell me can you get it from my energy”. The answer to this is ‘not really love we don’t know what that actually means’. Then the whole thing drops out, leading to…
» Into the home straight – beat thunders back in, song explodes with reappearance of the “I’m an outlaw I’m the big boss” bit, music starts to drop out leading to the “closer, baby look in my eyes, do you recognise me?” portion.
» Song ends slightly more abruptly than you expect.
It seems @TheSaturdays lead single might be going delayed a few weeks until June. Which – to us at least – isn’t too surprising. Most videos/songs debut 4-6 weeks ahead of their release to generate a buzz, there has been a recent trend in the UK for singles to be released as they premiere on radio, such as the recent releases from Britney Spears, Lady GaGa and Beyonce – of which all 3 singles have hardly done that well (to date) so maybe a delay is actually better for the group in this case. Either way JLS seem to feel its potentially a number one …
According to Marvin from JLS The Saturdays are set to score the first ever No.1 single this summer
The girls are getting ready to comeback with new material and Rochelle‘s boyfriend Marvin has already heard their new single, Notorious.
“Me and JB went down to the shoot in LA a couple of weeks ago.” said Humes in an interview “The new single is wicked…I think this could possibly be the girls first No 1.
“The girls are releasing before us so we’re not going to have any boyfriend/girlfriend battles in the chart – no way”
All we know at this stage is that the track contains the lyrics “I’m an outlaw/ I’m the big boss/ I’m a gangster/ on the dance floor,” it reads. The single is written by Ina Wroldsen, who has previously worked with the group on ‘If This Is Love’ and ‘Up’,
