I’m fit and raring to go for Scottish gig after horsefly bite laid me low

SHE was left on crutches when she was bitten by a horsefly and her foot swelled up to three times its normal size.

But The Saturdays’ Mollie King has been able to go back on stage thanks to a radical remedy – a pair of high heels.

The singer was left in agony by bites on her heel which she got while sailing off the coast of Scotland.

Now back with the other four girls after a fortnight hobbling around on crutches, she told how pulling on a pair of shoes eases the pain of the skin infection Cellulitis.

Mollie, 23, said: “I’m wearing high heels for the shows now. But it kind of helps, just don’t tell the doctor.

“Wearing heels, all the pressure is on the ball of my foot and not the heel. My heel is still aching a little bit but I’m taking painkillers. It will be fine. ”

With Cheryl Cole recovering from malaria and Sam Fox being treated for rabies after being bitten by a cat in Thailand, it seemed Mollie was one of a group of showbiz gals in the wars.

The Saturdays’ Mollie prepares for Weybridge

HAVING just performed for the first time at the Isle of Wight Festival, The Saturdays cannot wait for their next open-air performance at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Mollie King tells Becky Younger.

“We’re really excited. We’re playing a few dates this summer but this one is the closest to home for me so I’ve got family coming,” said the 23-year-old, who grew up in Surbiton and therefore knows Surrey pretty well.

“The band comes from all over really so it’s nice to go and perform at local venues, especially if they are close to home so we can have our families there,” she added. “It’s also great for the locals to see how far we have come.”

Mollie and band mates Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White, Rochelle Wiseman and Una Healy have been together less than three years but have already totted up a number of top 10 singles, two albums and have toured with some of the biggest bands in the UK, including Girls Aloud and Take That.
