The Saturdays’ New Direction

British girl band The Saturdays have chosen to go for a new direction with their music, as they don’t want to ”bore” their fans.

The Saturdays don’t want to “bore people” with their music.

The ‘Ego’ hitmakers admit their forthcoming new album ‘Headlines’ will be a slight departure from the music they are best known for, but hope it will win them some new fans.

Singer Una Healy told BANG Showbiz: “We don’t want to always do the same thing again and bore people.

“We want to grow from that. We do need to appeal to not just a certain type of fan but bring in new fans as well. Our loyal fans will always love ‘Ego’ and ‘Up’ and so we want something that won’t exclude them but get to a wider audience too.”

In addition to their work as singers, the band – made up of Una, Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Wiseman, Vanessa White and Mollie King – often get other offers, but Frankie says they want to focus on their music at the moment.

She said: “Hollywood or other projects isn’t something that we are like, ‘Oh we want to do that next year.’ If the opportunity arises I don’t think anyone would say no but we are concentrating on this.

“We never know what’s going to happen, you know? We’ve got so much more to do. A lot of stuff does come our way but we tend to say, ‘Quality, not quantity.’ ”

The Saturdays reveal album details

The Saturdays have revealed more details about their new album Headlines.

The group, who performed new single ‘Missing You’ for the first time at yesterday’s T4 On The Beach, have recorded a total of five new songs for the eight-track mini LP.

The remaining songs will be singles ‘Forever Is Over’, ‘Ego’ and a remix of the album track ‘One Shot’ from their previous record Wordshaker.

Rochelle Wiseman told Digital Spy: “We’d finished the last album and we’d come across some songs that we were really excited about. The songs that we had found were so current, and we’d written a couple of songs ourselves, [so] we wanted to just get everything out now.”

Una Healy also confirmed that a track called ‘Higher’ – which the band have already performed live at a number of festivals – will be on the album.

She added: “[There are] some surprises in there – some really great tracks. We’re not steering away from what the fans like.”

The Saturdays Fire Manager!

The Saturdays pictureUK girl group The Saturdays have fired their manager Jayne Collins, despite working with her from the start of their career.

The Saturdays have fired their manager.

The five-piece girl group – which consists of singers Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Wiseman and Vanessa White – have taken the decision to part ways with Jayne Collins, who has supported their career from the beginning.

The band are starting to promote their third album ‘Headlines’, which will be released later this summer, and feel under pressure for it to be a smash hit and think a new approach will help them achieve their goal.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “If the new album doesn’t perform well, the girls know they could be jobless. They bear Jayne no ill will but thought a new perspective might help them this time round.”

The group’s last LP ‘Wordshaker’ debuted in the UK charts at number nine before falling completely out of the top 40 by it’s third week – similarly, their first album ‘Chasing Lights’ also peaked in the top 10 at number nine.

The girls will release first single ‘Missing You’ from the new album on August 9 with the LP coming out on August 16.
