Celebrity Diary by Una!

Una made an diary entry in Evening Herald‘s Celebrity Diary on 29 January.

Here is the article.

Last weekend got off to an exciting start for me, given that my boyfriend Ben Foden’s team were playing against Munster in the Heineken Cup.

He plays for Northampton and as I’m from Thurles, in the heart of Munster, it always makes for a tricky encounter!

It was quite tough for me seeing them compete against each other and one radio station did call me up and asked if I would go on and talk about it. But I didn’t want to upset anyone, so I said no. Of course, I’m 100pc loyal to my province and I’m very proud of where I’m from, but I’m also very in love and of course you want to see your boyfriend do well. I’m happy enough to sit on the fence and cheer on both teams.

No weddingbells for Ben and Una (Yet!)

Saturdays star Una Healy has rubbished reports that she is due to walk down the aisle in 2010.
The flame-haired Tipperary native was at the London premiere of Clint Eastwood’s new movie Invictus last night with her rugby star beau Ben Foden.
The smitten couple mingled with A-listers including Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman at the screening, but denied they are due to walk down the aisle.
“I saw that an Irish bookie was taking bets about us maybe getting engaged over the New Year but imagine how cringe-worthy that would be if we went ahead and did it after a bet?,” Una told the Diary.
“We’ll do it in our own time and we’re happy with where we are. Hopefully, I’ll always feel this way about him but you just have to take each day as it comes.
“We’ve just bought a lovely house together — things are going great.”
Her other half is one of the star players on English side Northampton and she admits that it made for a sticky situation last weekend when his team took on Munster in a Heineken Cup clash.
Foden is also expected to be picked to play for the England squad, which means he may well be lining out against Brian O’Driscoll and the boys in green in the next international game at Twickenham on February 27.
One of our best-known musical exports, thanks to her chart-topping success with The Saturdays, Una now spends most of her time in Britain touring and working with her fellow bandmates Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Wiseman and Vanessa White.
Chase
But while she clearly loves the London life, she has lashed out at the overly-aggressive paparazzi who chase the beauties around the whole time, and has vowed not to get photographed drunk again.
“I think the paps are too nasty in the UK and you are more vulnerable when you have a few drinks. Even if you are photographed stone-cold sober, the angles can make you look like you’re not. I’ve had a couple of nights where it has been very full-on and they’re literally tripping over each other to get your picture,” she explained.
“When I go out in Dublin, there’s only one or two paps and they’re really friendly. I would chat away to them no bother — but it’s not like that in London because there’s so many more celebrities and they chase them full-time.”
Una recently revealed how her uncle on her mum’s side is country music legend Declan Nerney and she describes him as a “big inspiration to me”.
“I grew up with that musical influence and he always encouraged me. His records were always going non-stop in the house at home,” she said.
