The Saturdays reveal their US Plans

British band The Saturdays have revealed their plans to take over America.

But there’s one thing they aren’t about to do in their quest for success. – and that’s go on a diet. In fact the bemused quintet say that they ‘don’t know what size zero is.’

The chart-topping band are media sensations in Britain, where newspapers follow their every move

In the U.S. they are yet to find fame. But they hope that is about to change.

The glamorous five, consisting of Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Humes, have been surprised by just how intense the focus on looks is in America.

‘I don’t really know what size zero is,’ says blonde Mollie. ‘Is it when they look like they’ll snap? That’s really not attractive!’

Frankie admits there are some differences in cultures.

‘Everywhere you go, people are body conscious… I’m body conscious. Everyone in LA works out all the time and I don’t, I love to eat!’

While Vanessa reveals: ‘Me and Frankie said we’d go to the gym here every morning, but we haven’t been once! I’m not a morning person.

‘As a band, we don’t motivate each other… I’d never say “Get down the gym, Frankie!” If you want to eat a bagel, eat a bagel!’

Mollie adds: ‘I admire Blake Lively’s body, she’s got a healthy, curvy body, and quite athletic looking.’

And Rochelle added: ‘The biggest difference in LA is how well groomed everyone is,’ she said. ‘I’m from Essex and I’m used to seeing well groomed girls, and I love a blow dry myself. But its so much more here in America, men and women.’

The Saturdays have been spotted attending the same Pilates classes as American pop sensation Miley Cyrus who has recently shown off a new, more toned figure.

‘I’ve never done Pilates,’ admits Mollie, ‘But we’ve all seen the recent photos of Miley, and she’s got really toned and lean and looks so healthy right now. Frankie does Pilates all the time and can get her legs up behind her neck, probably!’

The girls continue their US Takeover

It’s all go go go in @TheSaturdays world now. The girls flew from LA to New York over the weekend, although Mollie ended up back in the UK for just under 2 days – no no she didn’t get the wrong flight, she attended a family wedding. She is now flying back to the US as the girls perform their first show in The Big Apple – New York City – this weekend as they start from the ground up in making their name in the mighty United States!

Una’s little one Aoife made her way back to the UK over the weekend and Una is making the trip back herself after their gig in NYC this week, so those who where worried the girls wouldn’t be back that often don’t need to panic as they keep popping back!

As most people know the girls performed their new single ‘What About Us’ at the Perez Hilton VMA aftershow party on Thursday, lots of clips have appeared online but with Universal Music removing them left, right and centre I’ve decided not to post anything up here. If you want to see the clips have a look around online I’m sure you will find it. Either way it can’t be that long – even if the actual release is in January – until we hear it probably as they will have to serve it to US Radio within the next 6 weeks or so?!

We will start going though everyone who contacted us regarding helping with the US stuff. It is important that we have a few people from the US lending a hand, what with time differences and other factors there is a chance we could miss something on TV or Radio etc. We hope to bring the best we can to our US visitors. For starters if you hover over home at the top of the page we now have a dedicated page for US News and events, more refinements are coming as we go on so keep an eye open 🙂

Mollie takes It’s Me Choice Award 2012!

@MollieTheSats has done it again – thanks to you! Mollie has been crowned the It’s Me Choice Award winner for 2012! Huge thanks to everyone who voted for Mollie as an inspirational dyslexic. Full statement from Dyslexia Action is below:

Over the past month, we asked you to let us know who in the public eye with dyslexia inspires you the most and we are pleased to
let you know that the nominations are in and counted.

We can now confirm that the celebrity with the most nominations for the second year running is Mollie King, one fifth of super girl group, The Saturdays. Mollie speaks openly about being dyslexic and the challenges this presents and has given so many others the confidence to believe that their goals are achievable.

The It’s Me! Award is the only award presented at the annual Dyslexia Action Awards Dinner that is chosen by public nomination and we have had an overwhelming response this year with almost nine thousand nominations!

To showcase the fantastic nominees, we have created a pinterest board from the Wikipedia pages of those nominated. There are so many people who have not let dyslexia hold them back from achieving their dreams, we hope that you find this board as inspiring and motivating as we do!

The Dyslexia Action Awards Dinner raises money to enable us to take action to help more children, young people and adults with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. If you would like to attend or to find out more about the event, please contact Lucy McNally. Individual tickets are £275 and table packages start from £2750.
