The Saturdays to release Official Comic Relief Single for 2009

The Saturdays have announced that they are providing the official single for this year’s Comic Relief.

The girlband will follow in the footsteps of Girls Aloud, Sugababes and the Spice Girls by releasing the charity record this March.

The song, a cover of Depeche Modes ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, will be the main single for the 2009 campaign.

“I am so so excited that we have been asked to do the Comic Relief song,” Mollie King said.

“It’s such a big compliment and it’s so nice to be helping such a good cause. I’ve always dreamt of doing something like this from being a little girl! I remember watching the Spice Girls’ song ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and now it’s us! I cannot wait!”

The single will be released on March 2 with Comic Relief taking place on March 13.

Issues – Chart Update

Issues, now selling strongly on iTunes (Number 3 at time of posting) sat on the Charts (when everything is combined) at number 7 on Friday. So if you haven’t bought it yet you only have a little over 12 hours to do so. Sales for this weeks chart only count up to midnight tonight. So if you are popping into town to do some shopping pick up the single or download it from the comfort of your room by downloading it from iTunes for just 79p! (iTunes is now DRM free and all songs are twice the bitrate of 256kbps – meaning they sound better!)

Lets see if we can move Issues up to a Top5 placement! 😀

The Saturdays eye up Chris Brown

Daily Star:

CHRIS Brown could be about to make The Saturdays the happiest girl group in the world.
The perky pop quintet’s Rochelle Wiseman, 19, has admitted in the past she would “drop everything” to work with the prince of R&B – even her boyfriend!
And The Saturdays, whose new single Issues is out now, told me they had a “big surprise” in store this year.
Chris, who wowed London’s O2 arena at the weekend, added fuel to the speculation when his people said he was writing tunes for some “gorgeous UK girls, five of them…”

Keeping his cards close to his chest, Chris hinted: “I’ve been writing songs for several new girl groups.”
Chris, 19, has also been penning songs for the likes of Backstreet Boys, Jonas Brothers and Pussycat Dolls – not to mention his own lady Rihanna, 20.
He said: “I’m writing for Rihanna’s new album now. I actually have a couple of songs written already that would be dope collaborations between me and her.”
