Mollie King

This is news about 1/5 of The Saturdays, Mollie King.

Vanessa envy, Mollie parties and more!

Hey all! It’s Monday and Not Giving Up is released in under 2 weeks, but a little more on that later.

Firstly we start with Vanessa, and how she felt envious about other members of the group!

Vanessa White admits she used to be jealous of the other Saturdays.

The singer, who was just 17 when the group got signed, struggled with her self-esteem when she started to gain a bit of weight in the band’s early days.

‘People nicknamed me “the Fat Saturday”,’ says Vanessa, 24.

‘We’d be driving round the country all the time doing promo and were always eating McDonald’s.

‘I went from being a tiny size 6, doing dance classes and gymnastics at school, to eating junk food.

‘I was never huge – the biggest I got was a size 10 – but, because I’m only 5ft 1in, I looked bigger.

‘Being labelled “fat” just made me even more shy.’

Vanessa felt even worse when she compared herself to her bandmates.

‘I envied the other girls so much,’ she tells Fabulous Magazine.

‘I’d see how confident Rochelle [Humes] was, and the way Frankie [Sandford], Una [Healy] and Mollie [King] could eat anything and stay super thin.

‘I used to look at them and think they were so sorted – particularly Rochelle and Una. They were always so sure of themselves.

‘It’s just taken me that little bit longer.’

Next up, Mollie was out and about in London town on Saturday night, not much else to say but I’ve added a few pictures of Mollie at the end of this article for your viewing pleasure.

Now to move onto the new single, Not Giving Up, unless you have been hiding under a rock the last few weeks you will know that it’s out in under 2 weeks now. You will also now that the song is (still) the only single to date that Radio 1 haven’t play listed. Which in itself isn’t too bad, I mean songs have done well without the support of Radio 1, but it does mean we are all going to have to work that little bit more.

As the week goes on we should get information about TV and Radio airplay, although (sadly) I’m not expecting much.
It might also worry some people that Little Mix (with the Sport Relief Charity Single) wobbled around the lower end of iTunes all week last week, and Pixie Lott did tons of promo and only just managed a Top 10. Traditional Pop is (seemingly) taking a bit of a hit right now sadly.

Promo details are still very sparse,  we do know the girls are on Lorraine, on Friday 4th April, the TV guide doesn’t mention performance, it just says the girls are there to chat about Not Giving Up, and maybe more exciting to some, the tour. More TV should appear soon, or hopefully an announcement will be soon. As soon as we hear anything else we will tweet it out!
As for the tour, I do expect a tour announcement soon (hopefully before the 4th, I assume April 4th might be the on-sale date, or maybe on the Saturday 5th), I also expect to be taking place in September/October (as I’ve also mentioned in the past). Theatres/Arenas/Combination, honestly have no idea. I know September doesn’t sit well with a lot of people due to University, and it’s a busy month for a lot of TeamSats members who will be starting Uni, but lets see and wait for confirmation!

Hopefully all will become clearer over the next 12 or so days. But it seems, a bit like the other ‘fan single’, Work, this is going to be a tough one (but I do hope I’m wrong!!)

Hey all, hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sun – if you lived in the south of England at least!

I would love to be posting a tour update, or a promo update, or even the Bigger premiere which didn’t happen last week, but alas this isn’t a Not Giving Up news post, it’s about Mollie’s aspirations to become a fashion designer.

Mollie King has fast become a front  row regular and attendee at some of fashion’s hottest parties – she was even unveiled as the first ever ambassador for Oasis.

Better yet, the star landed herself a modelling contract where she joined a roster of talent including Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Lana Del Rey and Suki Waterhouse.

The 26-year-old singer has clearly enjoyed her foray into the fashion world revealing that she has hopes of designing her own range one day.

Speaking to MailOnline, the Maybelline Better Skin foundation ambassador said: ‘I love doing the modelling I’m really  enjoying it and learning lots from working with different photographers.

‘However my priorities for this year are with the band and with Oasis as I have another collection coming out with them in April.’

Mollie’s ‘Loved By Mollie’ AW13 collection for Oasis – a 45-piece capsule range handpicked by the  well-dressed singer – went on to become one of their best-selling of all time – and fashion fans will be pleased to hear that The Saturday’s star is considering turning her hand to designing.

‘I would like to design, yes. Hopefully in the future.

‘I’ve learnt so much from doing the campaign it’s been a really nice introduction  for me because you don’t realise how much there is to learn so I’m  really pleased I’ve done it this way round first and then would like to  do into designing at some point,’ she told us.

For now, however, Mollie is focusing on her duties as ambassador for Maybelline and, naturally, she’s a big fan of the brand.

‘Being part of a band I worry about foundation clogging my skin and I know with Better Skin that it’s good for the appearance of my skin day-by-day and is non-clogging whilst giving a dewy finish.’

Mollie maintains that her beauty regime is pretty minimal – she uses L’Oréal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Cleansing Oil twice a day and some Carita products on her skin.

Speaking about her closeness to her fellow Saturdays band members, Mollie said: ‘We love to have girly chats about make-up and hair and we love to do things like watch an award ceremony and then discuss people’s make-up and hair.’

Despite spending a lot of time stateside and holding up fort on the front row, Mollie hasn’t caught the juicing bug like her fellow celebrity friends.

‘I take daily multivitamins but that’s it really,’ she said of her health regime.

‘I’m not a big fan of juices and I’ve never done a juice diet because I really like munching on my food and so don’t really like the consistency of soups or smoothies. I would rather actually eat the fruit.’

MollieKingOasis14-02

It’s your Sunday evening Mollie update! Seems our Mollie has been grabbing the headlines over the last few days, and here’s how!

Firstly it has been announced that Mollie is a new ambassador for the charity close to her heart, Dyslexia Action, there’s a bit more on their website. This is also a good opportunity to remind you that for Mollie’s birthday book this year, people are raising money for Dyslexia Action, over £200 has been raised so far, so please donate if you can!

Mollie has also been speaking to You Magazine (Mail On Sunday) about her upcoming Spring/Summer range for Oasis, that is set to be in stores from April 7th. Check out the source for the full interview, and here’s a bit of a behind-the-scenes video 🙂

Mollie’s B’day Book and more!

Firstly, again, sorry for the lack of site updates. Been so busy at work, studying in the evening, plus went to the Beyonce concert on Saturday at London’s O2, what an amazing show, so if you are going you are in for an amazing experience!

I don’t think I’ve missed much, the Not Giving Up video has hit the 1m views point on Youtube. So make sure you head over there and view it! Remember its released in just over a months time, so hopefully the promo for the song will be announced shortly.

Vanessa attended the Philippine Typhoon Disasters Appeal Gala on Sunday evening with Gary, I’ve added a few pictures of the lovely Vanessa at the end of this article.

Also if you’ve not heard, this years birthday book for Mollie has an additional appeal going on, we are trying to gain as much money as we possibly can for the charity Dyslexia Action, in rather amazing start we’ve already raised £200! This is with just the help of you guys and girls in the community, we’ve had no promo from the girls mailer (yet!) and other sources, this is purely from social networking and your very awesome generosity! We appeal if you haven’t yet donated to pop over to the official JustGIving page and donate as little – or as much as you want, huge thanks 🙂

There has also been a lot of public debate recently over Dyslexia, and if it actually exists or not. I suggest if you are thinking about donating, or want to know more about this debate, then to visit this blog post which was been excellently written by Rosie.

We will be actively entering discussions with the girls management, and dyslexia action in the near future to make sure Mollie gets the book, and the charity – and everyone who donated – get the recognition you all deserve. So please donate if you can 🙂

Mollie for Maybelline

Yesterday it was confirmed that Mollie was again attending London Fashion Weekend (20-23rd Feburary) alongside Maybelline, but this time it’s not for a range of lipsticks, it’s for Foundation, the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Foundation, which is available in stores with a retail price of £8.99.

There are no confirmed details on what day(s) Mollie is at LFW, or what she is actually doing there yet. As soon as something is confirmed we will update you all, as you are aware I did attend the last one in the autumn, and it call it exciting would be incorrect, it’s not very large, and full of clothes you still can’t afford despite the discounts! But if you are a true fashion connoisseur it’s probably a great day out – I got lost after about 5mins if I’m being honest!

As you have probably noticed, we’ve given the site a minor refresh to celebrate the release of Not Giving Up in April! 😀

It’s also a big day for me today too as on a personal level, its the date of my second anniversary with my girlfriend Rosie. 🙂

Mollie in Cosmopolitan

Our very own Mollie is the cover girl of the March edition of Cosmopolitan.

With London Fashion Week almost upon us who better to grace our March cover than bonafide style muse Mollie King. Signed to Next Models, a FROW regular, with a second drop of her Loved By Mollie collection on it’s way next month (get a sneak peak of it on the video here), Molls is definitely having her moment.

The Saturdays star tells Cosmo: “I studied fashion at A level and it’s something I love learning about. I’ve always had a strong opinion on clothes. I know straight away if I like something or not and how it could work… [Victoria Beckham is] an absolute legend. I saw her at a fashion event and I really wanted to ‘fangirl’ her and get a picture but I was too scared. If I’m on the front row of a show and someone like her walks in, I get so excited and can’t stop staring. I think, ‘Oh my god, I need to remember this feeling because I won’t be doing this forever.’ One day when I’m a granny, I want to remember how cool it is!”

In the full interview in our March issue Mollie talks about her hang-ups and dressing for her shape saying: “I don’t have a Kim Kardashian bum unfortunately, and I don’t have massive boobs either. You have to work with the bits you’re most proud of, so if I’m going out I always think, ‘Right, Molls, your legs are better than your cleavage, so go work those.’ I’m not that curvy, so I like to wear things that give me more shape than I’ve got. Everyone has their body hang-ups; I think, ‘Oh, I could tone that,’ or, ‘I wish I could change that.’ But as much as you can tone bits or add bits, you’re born with your body.”

Currently loved up with American record producer Jordan Omley, Mollie reflects on past relationships and even has it nailed when it comes to being friends with an ex like the model one David Gandy. “It’s really hard when it’s fresh; you can’t go from being in love to friends overnight. I’ve always had to take time apart after a break-up. When they’re with somebody new and you’re single that really hurts, but it’s easier when you move on. Recently there were some pictures of me and David sat next to one another at the same tennis match and the pictures could not have been more unfortunate. It looked like we hated each other, but we do actually get on.”

Now she’s totally loved-up and doing the long-distance thang with Jordan she’s happier than ever. “It sounds glamorous and showbiz, but it can be tough at times because you want to come home to one another and snuggle on the couch. He’s different from guys I’ve been out with before. I’m really happy; he’s definitely ticking all the boxes. He looks after me… I can be quite high-maintenance as a girlfriend. But I’ve learnt to be more laid-back in relationships.”

The Spring / Summer 14 Loved By Mollie edit will be available from March in selected Oasis stores and from www.oasis-stores.com The Saturdays new single Not Giving Up is out in March.

The March 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan is on sale 30th January.

Ramp Up The Red!

Have to admit wearing Red isn’t all that bad now 😉

Mollie is joining up with the British Heart Foundation to ‘Ramp Up The Red’

Mollie explains, “I’m so excited to be supporting the BHF on 7 February by Ramping up the Red and joining the fight against the UK’s single biggest killer, coronary heart disease.

“By organising a Ramp up the Red party with friends, families and colleagues, you will be raising funds that will go directly towards vital research, support and care to help mums, dads, grandparents or babies born with heart problems.

“It’s so easy to organise and you’ll be helping the BHF to continue to fund life-saving heart research in the UK to help everybody who suffers from a heart problem. It is a cause that is particularly important to me, as my grandfather sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack when I was younger.”

So on 7th February grab your reds and Ramp Up The Red!!

In other news, Rochelle has tweeted today that the group (finally) are getting back together after the Xmas break – have they had a month off?! Either way hopefully we will get movement on the next single and tour announcement (which I’m personally expecting within the next month or so anyway – alongside a single announcement) shortly.
