A host of famous faces turned up for Rio Ferdinand’s Live the Dream charity auction on Wednesday night expecting a performance from The Saturdays.
They were left disappointed though when host James Corden announced what he called ‘some good news’ that they would not be attending. To say he was less than impressed would be an understatement, as he tore into the famously-fit five-piece for apparently shunning a charity event.
He continued to tell the crowd that apparently they were all too ill to perform but that they had been well enough to sing on Monday at the same venue for a paid gig.
Not pulling any punches, James went on to say that their single was out in January, but not worth buying.
Further evidence of Corden’s conspiracy theory came from Mollie King’s Twitter page where the blonde band member posted an image of her meeting Ant and Dec and detailing a busy day filming with Blue Peter.
She also tweeted about her nerves before Thursday’s Radio 1 Live Lounge fuelling Corden’s argument for why they didn’t perform at Rio Ferdinand’s charity event.
Despite the disappointment over the performances the night was a great success, auctioning off some insane and priceless lots including Rio’s own Porsche Spyder replica sportscar, tea with Elton John and a five-star, and a chauffeur-driven, tournament long holiday to next year’s Football World Cup.
